Dark_AleX has just released the latest version of DAX ZISO loader, which allows you to load ISO images of games from your memory stick on your firmware 1.5 PSP. The latest version fixes some compatibility problems, and a few other additions. Great work Dark_AleX, legal ISO loading is becoming better with each release!



New features/fixes in v0.62:
- A bug originally from the UMDEMULATOR core has been found and fixed. UMDEMULATOR didn’t handle the case where the string pointed by the parameter file (sceIoOpen, sceIoOpenAsync), or dev (sceIoDevctl) was not aligned to 4 bytes, causing an exception when that happened. That caused incompatibility with some games (Coded Arms, Mahjong Fight and maybe others), and some homebrews (FileAssistant++, Irshell and maybe others).
- Now daxziso prx’s and default backgrounds are in ms0:/DAXZISO. Also, moved from newlib to pspsdk libc to reduce the size of the executable.
- Added an “experiment” to play games via usb in Direct Load, MPHGL Direct, and RUNUMD Direct modes. This need files from psplink, which are not included. (you only need usbhostfs.prx in the psp part, and a driver and usbhostfs_pc in your computer, and edit the daxziso.ini file).

MEGA MAN X4 marks a return to action for this popular franchise. The gameplay, as in all previous MEGA MAN titles, is challenging. Each level includes little secrets and unique terrain, and each new weapon or fighting move you learn will take practice before you can utilize them. The various enemies are sneaky and will put up quite a fight, although the real challenge comes at the end of each level with the huge bosses. The game allows you to play as two different characters, each with different sidekicks and weapons. The game plays differently for each character, almost giving you a two-for-one feeling. If you play as X, your experience will be very similar to the other MEGA MAN X games, while if you choose Zero, the story is pretty much the same, but you have to change your approach in battles and traversing the terrain.

What Icy Tower lacks in storyline, it makes up in game play. From the moment you click that "Start Game" option, you're in for quite the ride. You would start in a slow-paced environment, with the floors appearing to be stationary as you climb up. At the status bar on the left, a meter measures the seconds that pass. As you climb one floor to another in utmost complacency, you would be brought back to urgency as the meter rings to signal that thegame play would proceed on a quicker pace. This happens once every sixty seconds, each time hastening the scrolling of the screen even more. This aspect of the game provides an edge to what might have been just another mundane casual game.
